Treat tools as regulated beauty accessories
Makeup brushes and sponges are generally not “cosmetics” in the formula sense, but retailers, marketplaces and your own compliance team may still ask for material safety information, heavy-metal screening support or restricted-substance declarations.
Build a simple compliance folder early: product photos, material list, supplier contacts, packing specs and any test reports you commission. This saves time when onboarding to a new retailer.
Clarify claims before production
Vegan, cruelty-free, “natural hair” and similar claims must match the actual specification. Foundation brushes should be specified as synthetic. If you need animal hair for powder tools, keep SKU claims accurate per item.
Logistics and Incoterms
Many first orders ship FOB from China ports, with the buyer controlling main freight and import clearance. CIF or DDP can be discussed when you prefer a landed quote. Factor sampling courier, bulk ocean or air, and buffer time for customs.
Working rhythm with an OEM
US buyers often need English-language specs, photo approvals and predictable update cycles. Agree on sample approval format, bulk AQL expectations and who pays for third-party pre-shipment inspection if required by your process.
