How to choose a makeup brush manufacturer in China
A practical filter for brands and importers in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Latin America.
The market is crowded with “factories” that are trading companies, and with true factories that only compete on price. Your goal is a partner who can repeat an approved sample at scale—and answer the phone when something changes.
1. Quality consistency over the lowest quote
Ask how they control shedding, ferrule tightness and logo durability. Request a sample you can abuse (wash, wipe, press). Compare two quotes only when the bill of materials is similar.
2. Material knowledge
Liquid and cream formulas generally need synthetic fibres; many powder applications can use synthetic or selected natural hair. A supplier who pushes one material for every tool is a warning sign.
3. Customization depth
Confirm handle, ferrule, fibre, logo and packaging options—and what is not possible. Catalog-based private label is normal; full custom moulds need time and volume to make sense.
4. MOQ and flexibility
At Kosmos Brush, standard MOQ is 3,000 per single-brush style and 1,000 per set or pouch style. Extremely low MOQ with premium finishes is often a retail pack of stock goods, not true custom production.
5. Communication and project control
- Response time in your working hours (or clear overlap)

6. Red flags
- No physical address or refusal of any audit/visit discussion
- Sample quality that cannot be explained in process terms
- Prices far below market with “same materials”
- Pressure to pay 100% before any sample proof
7. A simple decision path
Shortlist 2–3 suppliers → paid samples → compare side by side → small or standard first bulk → keep the approved sample as the contract reference.
