Why the same brush shape can have very different prices
A practical guide for brand owners and importers comparing China OEM quotes.
Two quotations can show the “same” foundation brush and still differ a lot. The outline is only the starting point. What you pay for is the bill of materials, the number of process steps, and how tightly quality is controlled from sample to bulk.
Three practical tiers
We group most projects into three levels so buyers can align budget and expectations early.
Standard
- Synthetic fibres, typically single-color
- ABS handles with injection color, or basic wood
- Aluminum ferrules
- Suited to volume private label and cost-controlled core sets
Plus
- Higher-grade synthetic or dual-color fibres
- Tighter assembly; optional plated ABS handles
- Stronger cosmetic consistency on ferrule and logo
- For brands that need better shelf presence without full premium materials
Premium
- Natural or mixed hair where the use case allows; special synthetics
- Wood handles and more complex surface work
- Brass-plated ferrules and stricter QC
- Hero tools, higher retail tiers, or differentiated construction
Liquid and cream formulas generally need synthetic fibres; many powder tools can use synthetic or selected natural hair. Tier does not override that basic match of fibre to formula.
What usually moves the price
- Fibre: single-color vs dual-color, grade, hand-feel sorting
- Handle: injection color vs plating; wood finishing depth
- Ferrule: aluminum vs brass plated; thickness and crimp quality
- Logo & packaging: print vs hot stamp vs laser; bulk vs pouch/box
- Order structure: many colors at low quantity raises changeover cost

Prices are EXW USD after quantity, tier and packaging are clear. Upgrades are treated as process add-ons on the same shape—so you can compare “Standard vs Plus on one profile” instead of mixing unrelated products.
Standard MOQ: 3,000 units per single-brush style · 1,000 per set or pouch style.
How to use this on an inquiry
On our OEM inquiry form, choose a project tier first. We apply sensible defaults (for example Standard → synthetic single-color, aluminum ferrule, injection-color ABS). You can still change any field or open advanced options for natural hair, brass-plated ferrules and special notes.
That keeps low-complexity projects simple without hiding upgrade paths from buyers who need them.
